The Virgin Islands were first settled by the Arawak from South America around 100 BC (though there is some evidence of Amerindian presence on the islands as far back as 1500 BC).[2] The Arawaks inhabited the islands until the fifteenth century when they were displaced by the more aggressive Caribs, a tribe from the Lesser Antilles islands, after whom the Caribbean Sea is named.

    Obverse

The obverse features the Twin Towers with "Lest we Forget" at the base of the buildings. "11th Sept" is on the left, "2001" is on the right, and "$1"

Here is a other photo, I used the Effect Section, I chose the Negative effect. Notice the glow that is caused by the light on the coin and around the outside edges.

After America’s—and the world’s—tragic loss September 11, something magical happened. U.S. patriotism soared and the world stood tall against terrorism.

This world’s first, government-authorized, legal-tender coin also came together to honor lives lost, and as the severse states, “Lest We Forget”.

Other commemorative medals followed, but no other currency has captured the moment, or American and Ally strength and resolve quite like this. The wreath surrounding the image of the New York skyline is a mourning wreath. The wreath symbolizes the sadness and mouning for the tragedy that day.

Together Buckingham Palace and the New York Mint are pleased to introduce a coin that towers above all others.
