In another thread relating to coin software many expressed that they used Excel. I was just wondering if anyone has ever used the video proffessor computer teaching dvd? Is it worth buying to increase computer skills such as Excel, power point, Ect.
Can't you just experiment with it yourself, for a while until you get it right? Or just ask us here, if you have questions? Why spend money on that, while you could be buying coins!!!!
I personally wouldn't purchase a teaching tutorial for excel for this purpose. Excel has many functions that are for making tables and complex equations that those tutorials will teach you. To make a spreadsheet for coin collecting you don't need all those skills. I think you could find a tutorial online for free that would teach you the skills you need. Just do a google search and find one that you like. I did a quick search and this was the first complete looking tutorial I found. I just googled "excel tutorial." http://www.usd.edu/trio/tut/excel/
Excel is really great for a coin or anything listing. That professor thing they advertise may be worth it if the advertisement is true. They say you can get one free as an intisement to purchase other program tutorials. If it is in fact FREE and no suprizes, why not. I'd be carefull about those offers though. Some start sending you other items and it's up to you to stop them. If you do take them up on the Excel CD, just make sure you know exactly what your getting into. I'm no computer expert but I've well learned how to use Excel by experimenting. I don't know how many computer people you know but what I've found out over the years is just ask how to do something via email or right on here. I think you'ld be amazed at how much other people are willing to help.
To answer the question that was actually asked: Yes, I have used video professor and I ordered the CDs for my dad to use. He is new to computers and it was a great learning tool for him. I would highly recomend them.
I had forgotten they will send you the first one free to entice you. I agree, if it's truly free then go for it...what do you have to lose. Make sure you read the fine print though and don't end up signed up for a a monthly mailing for DVDs you have to pay for.
