ever seen one of these?

    I inherited this coin from my grandfather.He was not a coin collector so I have no idea how he came across it.It's a Louis Philippe 5 franc from 1839 but check out the transformation!!

    I think you can still buy this sort of thing. Yours looks like a nice piece, and I would like to pick one up sometime. I think the Mint sold a Silver Eagle variety at one point.

    wow... that looks like some sort of ninja weapon.

    I've never seen anything like it - pretty neat... wish it had been some sort of modern clad coin instead, but still neat.

    Haha Satootoko,not my fault but I think it's an interesting conversation piece anyway.Some time after I got it,I went into a local coin shop and showed it to the owner.He just looked at it and said "I have one of those for sale",and sure enough,in his showcase,was another 5 franc "swiss knife" coin (different year and person) even down to the unusual shaped nail file.He was asking $50 and it eventually got sold.
