All I can say is "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH" What a MORON! Okay, maybe I'm just a little passionate about early proofs, but this type of stuff drives me nuts! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11964&item=3947939711&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
Looks like the coin has taken a terrible cleaning, wonder what kind of file was Used ? Its really hard to believe what some people will do to a coin !!!
It would be tough to give this new seller the benefit of the doubt, especially with all the typos in the listing, But I'll try. At least he is wearing gloves and maybe the coin was wiped prior him owning it.
Funny thing is I didn't notice that he was wearing gloves. It looked like just his plain fingers. But....still scary.
This piece looks like it has been severely polished then retoned. I don't think a few fingerprints are going to make much difference now. Still, I don't think $100 will get a much better example for the type.
I'd agree that the coin has likely been wiped & or polished to remove the toning. But you get scratches just like the ones you see on that coin from keeping them in coin albums. Coin albums have probably ruined more valuable coins than anything else I can think of.
