I don't mean QVC or HSN specials. I don't mean gold-plated Kennedy halves or State quarters. I mean the deal. .900 fine US. Gold coins. I thought I read a story a year ago or so of someone who.cracked a roll of dimes at work and found a 1/4 eagle. Maybe.some of you have had.similar or hetter experiences?!? I am posting this this from my phone so sorry for grammar errors or periods in weird areas.
I seem to recall hearing a story like that. But I can't say that I know anyone who has found gold in a roll. I do however know many people who have found gold rings and such while metal detecting.
I thought it was on this website but I guess I could be mistaken that someone bought a $20 or $50 eagle from the bank
How big are the eagles? I'll have to add that to my list when I go bank to bank. "do you have any halves, large dollars, or gold coins?" I predict 50% would laugh at me. the rest would offer me those gold toned dollar coins.
I recall hearing the story in the results thread. The guy found it mixed in with the dimes in his cash register.
I heard a guy found a fractional krugerrand in the reject slot of a coin machine. He even showed a picture of it. It was somewhere around a 1/10th of an ounce and worth maybe $160-$180 at the time. Not bad for a reject find. HOTN

I found a gold chain in a bag of halves before, back when I was able to buy the bags that came out of the coin machine. I put it in my pocket, and unfortunately it had a hole in it. Never saw the chain again.
