I returned 3,732 pennies, 268 nickels, 298 dimes, 5 quarters, 17 half dollars, and 1 dollar coin to the CoinStar machine last night. They were my parents coins, and I went through them all to pick out wheats, pre '82 pennies, and looked for errors. What I returned were what I deemed worth face value. I selected a gift certificate from the machine to give to my parents so i didn't have to pay a fee to use the machine.

In the rejection slot came a dozen Canadian coins, a handful of Lincolns, and some half dollars. I put them all through again and less were rejected, and again and even less were rejected. What was left was 5 Canadian coins, a very rusted 1943 steel cent, and a 1964 US dime! The steel was so rusted it looked like a LMC in very rough shape, and the wheat stalks on the reverse are barely discernible (still not sure what to do with it), and the dime, well I don't really have a excuse for missing that one (it's in a nice new home now).

  3. That 1964 dime would not let you make that mistake. ;) Glad to hear it is in your collection where it belongs. :smile TC
