I have an can of European coins that I carried back from my Navy days. Where can I find out if they contain any silver,or do they? They range from 1935-81.

Chances are that you have both copper and silver in that can.

You could post a list including country, date and denomination right here, or you could go to your local public library's reference section and take a look at the 20th Century volume of the Standard Catalog of World Coins (authors listed on the library catalog card as either Krause and Mishler or Colin Bruce, depending on the age of the volume).

If you go to the library don't pay a whole lot of attention to the values shown in the SCWC, but it will give you the composition of each coin, including the total coin weight, silver fineness, and actual silver weight.
