Does anyone out there in Numismatic land know what happened to these? They minted 100K and seem to still be available? -looks like it might not have taken off like they thought. I suppose its a wild guess as to what will be popular and not.
Kind of like the 1999 SBA proofs that were still available last timed I looked? Ya just never know...
The mint was trying to capitalize on the State Quarter frenzy and missed the boat. They are still available and can be found for less than issue price if you search around a little.
It isn't that bad as far as ideas go, but American coinage is always the most collected. Trying to upsell for a quick profit has been a failing idea before. The mint should stick to what it does best.
