    Hi coin-experts!

    So, I am super-new to this error hunting and always have issues trying to identify correct doubled die and mint errors. Super confusing (especially with doubled dies). Sorry in advance.

    What do you think of this 1992 penny? I've seen pennies with that "scraping"-like around letters showing the silver color, but this one I think may be a real error? Wasn't sure if this is a doubled die or a common error to add to my list, LOL.

    And do you think this 1983 penny is an error or just post mint damage? 1983 front.jpg 1983 back.jpg

    Your second choice is correct :happy:

    Top coin has split plating and is starting to corrode (zinc rot) and the bottom one was squeezed after it left the mint

    I agree it appears to be split plating and the second one appears to be PMD(post mint damage)not a mint error. JMO

    Figures, LOL! I'd had high hopes as for the first time, I saw a markings around the letters that protruded.

    Oh well! And the hunt continues. Thank you!

    LOL. I laughed first, but then got to thinking... is this wrong? I'm still very new to all these terminologies. Ugh, probably won't be the first or last time I get verbiage wrong....

    @WannieA
    Just a silly argument I have had for years.. Some say double die and others say Doubled Die.. The correct Numismatic Terminology is Doubled Die :D
