This 1991 penny has a very weird mark under the last letter A in the word AMERICA on the back side of the coin. It looks like their is a bubbling effect under it, and I have no clue what it is. Does this mark have a name and is it worth anything? Thanks

Is the mark raised on the coin? It looks like glue.

No, i dont believe it is raised and it does not come off, does that mean it is not glue?

It is probably plating bubbles. The two reverse pics look different. Put up pics of the whole reverse like you did the obverse. I'd put it in the coinstar/bank return pile.

Put some acetone on it. Don't rub. If it does not come off and it is not raised, it is either level w/ the surface or sunk into it. See Post#4. Plating bubbles will be raised and it sure looks raised in the photo.

    Plating anomaly, not an error.

Oh, when I am looking through coins I have a pile for keepers. And a bowl for the ones I return to the bank or a coinstar machine. Those are the ones that are worth face value.

Most likely a plating problem. It could be the die was dinged so many times it put small pitting marks on the face of the die. Pressman could have been asleep on the job and didn't polish the die when it needed it. When you look at enough coins you will see the times where the pressman was hating his job that day.
