    Hi Guys!
I have a 1978 Ike dollar that looks like it has 2 DD errors on the reverse:

    1. The bottom of the L and the U (and quite possibly more letters) on E-PLURIBUS UNUM shows doubling
    2. The eagles inner left wing (bottom) shows some doubling

I'm not sure if I'm seeing this correctly with my 10X Loupe or if its just shadows. My questions is: Where can I send it to get an accurate reading & grade? Or is it not worth the trouble?

I'm not sure if I have the right equipment to scan it.

I'm pretty sure it isn't worth getting graded. Do you have a camera? The best way we can determine is if you can somehow get pics. Good luck.

I don't think its worth sending in. However should you decide to. Ken Potter is the man. http://koinpro.tripod.com/ is his website and you can decide for yourself. he is very well known in the error world and an all around pretty nice guy. I run into him two or three times a month at local shows.

I think that sound like an error.

The odds are strongly in favor of the lettering being doubled due to what is called mechanical doubling. Definitely not worth sending in until we can see some pictures or someone who is truly familiar with die doubling can view the coin.
