Hi, that’s just a fingerprint. Please don’t clean your coins if you’re trying to collect them! Do you have any questions on other coins?

Oh, I didn't realize that when I talk about "picking" or "cherry picking" coins from change I was actually supposed to be stealing them, not paying face value for them. Don't I feel silly now.

The fingerprints on your second coin have caused a chemical reaction with the metal. There isn't any way to restore the coin to its original appearance; if you remove the fingerprints, the rest of the coin will look unnatural. It's probably best to spend it, or keep it as a curiosity.

As others have said, it's usually a bad idea to clean coins. There are some safe methods, but you have to be very careful, and practice first on coins that aren't valuable or important to you.

Coins on TV are always overpriced. The sellers have to cover the cost of the coins, plus the cost of producing and airing the television program; the only way they can make money is by overcharging.

If you look carefully on eBay, or go to a local coin show, you can find mint sets at very reasonable prices.

NEVER buy from those people. They prey on new collectors with outrageous prices and will completely take advantage of you if you try to buy their coins.

Coins advertised on TV always leave out crucial details. Even if they are legitimate coins in reputable TPG holders being sold - like the guy who sells MS-70 American Silver Eagles in ANACS slabs - they will make comparisons as to why it is better/cheaper to buy from them because they will choose a price guide that lists inflated prices, making you think you'd be saving money buying from them.

Or they will say you will have "every American Silver Eagle since 1986", making you think it is every single one minted, but won't say they left out special mint sets that are expensive, thus making you think "wow! If I add all of them up, it's $12,000...and I am getting them all for $5,000!"

Never, ever, ever buy off TV...ever

Start a new separate thread. Pictures are needed in order to determine what you are talking about.
