I posted this in the strack-strappers thread , but must be the wrong place for it lol take a look at this note ... is the ink to the top right of the 8 anything other then extra ink? I normally see extra ink as being smudged outward from the serial, and across the entire serial ect. I dont thin ki have ever seen extra ink on just 1 serial .. and not have it be smudged ...
DJ... I am going to say "capillary effect" which means that with the printing methods of today a small bit of stray ink did contact the area without all the pressure applied and simply adsorbed into the surrounding fibers of the paper. If you look close you can see the same thing in different variations all over different areas of notes...borders, scrolls, ornamental designs patterns. This is just my opinion and it may not be worth much but you can see this effect by simply applying a few drops of water near an edge ...IE.... like a plastic place mat on a table top..the water is drawn beneath it..very much like capillary fluid exchange in the kidneys and circulation systems of the body. Dang... hope that helps a little?? RickieB
Thanks rickieB, and yes your explanation makes perfect sense lol I figured it was nothing... but with it only hitting the single digit... well.. certainly doesnt hurt to ask lol
