Today i just found a 1976 D and a 1974 S Lincoln cent cleaning up my yard...when i checked the weight like i always do ....i had to check it like five times to be sure...cause they weight on both of them came out to 3.03 and 3.02 g.... The only time coins weigh this amount was back in the 40's.... Does anyone know more info...about it?
No.. Normal weight is 3.11 grams. Even in the 1940's. Coins have a +/- in weight varience at times. Slightly rolled thin and thick sheets of copper produce the variance in weight. Also circulation wear can affect the weight.
