I have this 1942 P Mercury Dime, there's 2 raised bumps on the beginning stroke and a bump on the lower front curved stroke and in between, that is a outline of a full number 1. Worth anything?
It doesnt look like it to me..especially not seeing any doubling on the four, see here: http://mercurydime.net/19421-mercury-dime/
I collect them. Hello 213Sarah, I too have found some Mercury dimes with similar mechanical doubling. I'll post some photos here. Sorry I did not see your November post until today. Coins like this sell for just a little over the price of silver. I saw one offered by a dealer in Florida & he wanted something like $100. Perhaps he will get the $100 from some person but I rather doubt it.
I was more interested in the faint 1 under the 2 on my mercury. My photos are blured, they don't have doubling of the whole date. Just a faint #1 under the 2.
You own that example? I'd love to own one, but they're in a whole 'nother world for my budget these days.
