    Sixfootfour Coins are cool !

    Hello community! Yesterday I received the 2023 proof Peace Dollar from the US mint. Beautiful coin, but to my surprise it appears to have a blimish or strike thru on the reverse, i have attached photos and would like some feedback. Do you think this is an error? Would this be worth grading? Does this defect make it more or less valuable? Let me know what are your thoughts. I received two of them and the other one is perfect no stains blimishes or debris on that one thank goodness. I tried to take good photos, hope the are clear enough. Thanks for responding.

    Strike through,really common on these big silver coins.I wouldn't recommend certification,it would effect the value for a buyer that wants a basically perfect piece.

    Thanks for your input. I'm not sure what to do with it. The second coin looks perfect.

    I would return it to the mint for a replacement.

    @SensibleSal66
    It's definitely a strike through issue. Not a lamination. Strike throughs are more common on modern coins.

    No. You also need to know that if you want to send a coin with a mint error you would send it for attribution, not just grading. And that would be an extra fee. Your strike through is neat but not worth the fees.

    Definitely a nice strike through. A definite keeper. If you want one that looks better, just order another one.

    Most if not all proof collectors want the pristine coins without blemishes. What would be intereting is if this coin has an earlier or later strike in addition to yours. That would make it a variety.

    Interesting. I also received my 2023 proof Peace Dollar and it has an unusual issue. Maybe someone can give me a hint as to what it may be. The coin has a blue substance lodged between the E and R. It is not tarnish. It has thickness.
    Thoughts?
