That is what is called a Dryer Coin. It got caught between the wall and the drum of a clothes dryer and the tumbling and heat combination distorted the Dime. Great Example you have there. There are some who don't believe this theory but I saw about 6 different coins in that manner once. There were some laundromat mechanics fixing some old dryers and they showed me the damage that was caused.
Thank you. I wont. I had set it there for measurement. I have many questions about many coins that my dad had. He had alot of coins that my great uncle, who was a coin and stamp dealer, gave him. My dad died last year, and i'm trying to go through all of my coins, now. Except for the gold buillion ones in the bank that i have never seen and i dont know the dates on them.
I apologize, the coins in the bank are saint gaudens 20.00 gold pieces. I will definately need some help with those.
here's some basic info on those https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/gold-20-double-eagle/saint-gaudens/ did you ever buy a RedBook for general coin information ? https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...ywords=redbook+coins&rh=i:aps,k:redbook+coins
Thank you for the information. I did buy a redbook and i've been watching utube videos. My mother is 86 and knows nothing about coins. She is going to let me take pictures of the coins so i can get information about them. I realize they could be worth a lot of money so i will need expert advice.
Here is a piece of advice.................. Don't watch YouTube videos, they give a lot of false information. If you have any question's please ask us. YouTube takes stuff that is worth under a hundred bucks and says that it is worth over a thousand. If you want an easier way, try finding a local coin dealer in the area to see if anything is worth anything, Study your Redbook to, it has a lot of good information and is accurate. Good luck! Noah Also Those St guedons double eagles can be worth a lot, all are worth over a thousand!
Good luck. Find a local dealer (listed in this forum) if you have many and they will offer you a price with a little room for them to make money too. If your coins are not in a graded holder, keep in mind you wont be getting anything near top market price. I always think half with exception to bullion. You can always fax a list to them to get an idea. Don't worry. I would keep a few for memory sake as well.
Thank you for the advice. There are a few dealers in this area i can go to, but the only problem is, they dont know anything about error coins. I will definately ask here, any questions i have.
