Errors occur at random and are not limited to a specified date or mintmark, so it is tough to "track" them.

Die varieties (like repunched mintmarks and doubled dies), on the other hand, can be catalogued because there are multiple examples of the same one. For this, I would recommend the following sites:

    http://coppercoins.com/advsearch.php
    http://doubleddie.com
    http://varietyvista.com
    http://lincolncentresource.com

For all errors, I would recommend http://error-ref.com.
You can also check out http://maddieclashes.com for clashed die coins.

On how to tell the difference between a doubled die and other forms of doubling, I would recommend:
    http://errorvariety.com
    http://doubleddie.com

Don't forget trail dies. They are varieties, like doubled die & RPMs. You find find them here: http://www.traildies.com
