Hi folks, today I came across what looks like a 1994 or 6 cent, the coin is in beautiful condition, the 19 are perfect, the 9 is ghosted, can barely make it out, the last number in the date can't really tell what it is. Also its on Liberty its L_berty, there is no I. Any of you folks have any suggestions? Again the coin is in great condition, shows no sign of wear, buffing, scracthing or grinding. Thanks for any opinions in advance.

Grease-filled die is my guess. Sometimes a foreign substance (usually called grease) gets into the dies and prevents some of the details from being imparted to the coin.

    UPDATE:

Anyone other opinions out there, I'll try for a scan over the weekend, but a little more info on the cent, the liberty is missing L_ _ _ RTY, guess I won't really get more opinions until I post a scan, thanks for looking.

    Welcome to the forum.
Without a picture it is not definite, but sounds like a greased die.

Thank-you for welcoming me into the forum, just got back into the hobby approx 2 months ago after a 25 year lapse :). Forgot the feelings that come along with acquiring new coins, and to just go to a chevron, grab some change and see that puppy in my hands, well, its good to be back into collecting. I hope to have a scan up very soon.
