error cent

    error 001.jpg error 004.jpg the one on the right is the size of dime-no wheat on back, it looks like to much copper in to little space, even the front is covered with to much copper- has anyone seen this before? thank you!!!

    What is typically called a dryer coin. It is a form of Post Mint Damage.

    The coin almost looks to have been struck thru "late stage capped die", but the difference in diameter makes absolutely no sense. I'll say PMD for now... But if I had the coin in hand, I would be able to better determine the authenticity and make my final diagnoses.

    Three people that have years of experience have identified this as a coin that has been caught in the fins of a dryer,as do I.
