Error $5 bill, or damaged?

    I found this bill the other day. Notice the on the obverse, out looks like ink is missing between the "5" and the "five". I uploaded a picture of the reverse too, there is ink there on the reverse.
    I'm not sure if it's just been scratched off (really hard to do, I've tried to recreate this), or if this is an error (let's hope!). Any input would be helpful!

    Looks like a paper-pull to me.

    What's a paper pull? Sorry for my ignorance.

    Damaged. Surface of paper is ripped. Probably came in contact with tape or some adhesive and when unstuck from it, pulled (ripped) the surface of the paper.

    paper pull or gutter fold? is it a paper pull because the outline isnt straight as a gutter fold has?

    You can see the paper fibers where the surface has been removed. A fold wouldn't have that.

    It's just torn paper, nothing fancy. As we described before.

    i can see that i thought that maybe ware caused the fibers to stand out
