environmental damages on silver coins

i saw anacs grade some silver coins with evironmental damage. what kinda of damage can occur to silver

Improper storage, pvc damage, smoke damage, fire damage...there are a million different things that can effect silver in the environment.

im with what coleguy said. it could have been anything.

 

Kind of hate that term, but it usually means something other than mechanical dammage. Could be reaction with most any agent that it may have come in contact with. Usually a spot or spots that have erroded away coin material.
