I recently found this English penny (in my collection) 'mis-attributed'. (I simply took the seller's word - Queen Elizabeth I - I think not.) Can anyone help me by pointing me in the right direction, please? Silver Penny, AR 16 mm., 0.55 gm.
Based on size and weight it is a halfpenny and not a penny. On the reverse legend AS | EBO is clearly legible, which means that the reverse legend is CIVI | TAS | EBO | RACI , or City York in English. Based on the style of lettering, size of bust, and the trefoil by crown it could be Henry V from local dies. That is just a guess, as I don't know halfpennies that well.
