Here are two pennies from England, one is a 1945 and the other is a 1965. Does anyone know the latest year that England used the Britannia on pennies? Also does anyone know the copper composition for these years. I think that the older penny has a higher copper content. I ask b/c the newer one looks a little funky (similar to a new US cent) in comparison, at least in hand. thx

Interesting!! :thumb: Any way to clean bronze? Can they be placed in distilled water, I mean is it safe? Acetone?

I got a couple of half penny coins and they look like someone spilled coke on them. Mild dish soap with a good scrubbing, just kidding of course.:D But I will accept and may even try ideas which have worked.

It's generally best not to try to clean bronze, especially modern issues. Distilled water will probably have little effect and might cause problems. With really dirty coins (newly excavated Roman bronzes), one can use a damp, fine brush.
