Here is the last of some Parthian drachms I have acquired this year. Both were types I needed. The second coin I picked up really cheap, compared to the going rate on VC. So I was excited to get it as he was on the top of my list. Phraates III (70/69 - 58/7 B.C.) AR Drachm O: Diademed bust left. R: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ ΚΑΙ ΦΙΛΕΛΛΗΝΟΣ ΦΙΛΟΠΑΤΟΡΟΣ ΕΥΕΡΓΕΤΟΥ Archer (Arsakes I) seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow. 4.06g 21mm Sellwood 36.9 (Darius?); Shore 155; Sunrise 321 Mithradates I (171-138 B.C.) AR Drachm O: Bare-headed bust left with long beard wearing diadem, earring visible, reel and pellet border. R: Archer (Arsaces) seated right on omphalos wearing bashlyk and holding bow, legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ Hekatompylos Mint 4.01g 20.5mm Sellwood #11.1; Shore #24
Nice haul @Mat, I'd be happy to have either of those in my collection. I especially love that Phraates III with the very clear double-strike. Note how the obverse is off-center to the top. Parthian drachms very often have the portrait a bit off-center, but towards the bottom; it's unusual to see the very bottom of the portrait as on your coin.
Thanks, I got it only because I needed him, but your right that you don’t see the coins shifted on the top on these.
