IF look closely to the images on tow coins. Its clear thay are produced from one die and If be fakes, it seems don’t be casting fakes.they are producted maybe die- struck techniqe. Actually I.ve searched the Elymais catalogue. but it was not in the catalogue. The moon – star and the anchor marks on the reverse coins are as for Elymais . What is your opinion? Are they fakes? If positive or negative the first question. Then what is the them ID?
I have never seen the combination. The reverse looks Elymais but too small for the dies while the obverse looks Parthian and similarly small. My best reference is deMorgan Elymais and has nothing in the plates that looks like it. My first thought is that the coin is not good but I have done nowhere near enough research to say for sure.
Mani, I looked through Van't Haff last night and didn't see anything that matches. This is from what I know the latest Elymain catalog. Chris
Realy this is strange for me . If they are fake. Why the forger didn’t counterfeit the ancient ordinary coins. I,ve attached a photo of the obverse of elymaid coin ( kamnaskires III) and where i signed the part of bust with the red line is the reverse of the tow above AR coins. The bust of kings of the above coins are like pharaates IV or maybe orodes II too. ( the kings of Parthian). But I say there are the coins of pharaates IV and orodes II that on the obverse coins with the moon, star and anchor. Because the kings of Parthian an elymaid sometimes were in solidarity.
