Can anyone tell me why the Ellis Island quarter had no stars on the flag? And one more, why are there 6 tuning pegs and only five strings on the Tennessee State quarter? Mundane questions but I'm just curious as to why these two were designed this way. Thanks all. Tom
Ellis Island- no idea T State- Suppose the designer didnt think anyone would be that particular Not too terribly sure on either one
Ok.... I have it on good authority that the guitar player whose instrument was used for the model broke an E string..... Now why don’t I see a flag on the NY quarter?
Tommy, congrats, you're discovered 2 new errors. The only problem is, all minted coins for both issues are errors.
Ok, if you didn't buy my response on errors then try this: Ellis Island-no stars on flag because Ellis Island existed before the Union came into existence. After all, we needed immigrants to become a nation. Tennessee-no 6th string because country music only uses 5 strings. Obviously I have no idea but what a great question you asked.
All of mine were from bags from the Mint, B.U. and all were the same. Good Lord, did I actually get all of the coins with no stars and they were supposed to be there?
Oh dear heavens..... This will make your day...... I am mortified studying every New York quarter in every book I have and can only find Liberty and the outline of the state thinking my eyesight was worse than I wanted to believe...... And it just occurs to me.... Ellis Island quarter.... Well Duhhhh on me....
Didn't the Citizens Advisory Committee approves these designs? If so, I'd say a lack of oversight was present by the U.S. Mint when these were finally approved. Not a big deal, just an observation.
Now I need to compare the number of branches on the Ct. Charter Oak tree and the number of keys on the Dukes piano....just kidding.
If you find out why Georgia cut off the upper left county on the state outline of their quarter I would like to hear the reasoning.
