Before cleaning this bronze coin of Emperor Elagabalus, I decided to post it due to the original and even strange reverse. I own and already saw scores and scores of Elagabalus coins but had never seen a similar reverse. Hope it's rare. Please post your comments. Elagabal O 001.jpg Elagabalu R 001.jpg

Don't know how rare it is but I really love your wonderful coin! I agree with Pishpash. Trophy on left. Astarte in the center. Nike on column crowning Astarte. Murex shell at bottom of column. Only the palm tree seems unclear to me. Everything else is clear and easy to identify which is not always the case with these coins. Maybe from Antioch or Tyre. Looks very authentic to me unlike some suspicious Syrian coins I've seen lately. I'm not sure I would clean it except lightly, but it's your call. Congratulations, I'm jealous!

Well, sometimes we're not so civilized. Or perhaps we are, but we can get carried away at times. This is a great crowd of varying backgrounds, and I think for the most part we have all become coin friends.
