Struck at Emesa (Homs) in Syria, the following coin exhibits a particular altar which belongs to Elagabalus. The latter doesn't seem willing to abide by the Roman Myths. Maybe he lost his life being murdered for his belief in his Syrian deity. The obverse of the coin has Julia Domna. It weighs 9.75 g. BMC 10. Hope you like it.
One second while I don my glasses. I'm interested, but cannot see it, poor vision, need to magnify image.
Very interesting altar. I assume libations would be poured into the bowl on top, presumably incense mixed with oils from a patera. Great coin.
