Hi all, I attended the nice Heartland Coin Show in El Cajon, CA. yesterday,Sunday 5/31. I didn't take photos of the show like last time as some said coin shoppers and dealers didn't like to be photographed ( except our great Long Beach Group ). There were 33 tables as best as I could tell. The US gold eagles, buffalos, etc. that there was, went fast. 2009ASE @ 380/tube. Highlight for me was meeting Acanthite in person and enjoying looking at some tables together. Wonderful and interesting guy! Maybe he will show some of his nice ones. I bought only Lincolns this time, looking for BU rolls in 40s - 50s, none. Bought some singles and here are 2- 1939S and a 1940S. The 1939S each had die cracks and what appeared to be a clash on the reverse. The 1940S had more apparent die cracks and a planchet defect on the rim. The last item I purchased was a group of Lincolns from 1941-1976. Missing the 1970S sm.date. SOme are spectacular and others are just very very nice. I couldn't resist the group, chance to update, and I will probably sell the capitol holder down the road. I remembered the threads about how difficult to find nice memorials. It is hard to photo without reflection, but here it is. They are not dark in the last rows, just lighting. Lots of fun! Jim
Great stuff Jim, love those Lincolns and that board is impressive ! Youe mean Brad did another show on Sunday? What a coin animal, 4 days in a row, WOW !!!! Jim, consider the Ontario show in June, just a cpl weeks.
Yeah, I got inspired to take a drive on Sunday, thought it would be fun to meet desertgem. The show was small but managed to pick up a few Colombian and Egyptian coins I've been looking for. Quite a different atmosphere after the LB show, much more relaxed. Jim, those images are fantastic as usual, I will attempt to post photos of the slab we looked at and I bought. It was great meeting you as well, hope to see you at some more shows!
Ok. start the Twilight Zone music...... Brad bought a slabbed coin? Something is not right here. I'll check my meds and make sure i took the correct ones today.
Ha, Brad spotted it first, but was hesitant.....I think I talked him into it, but it is OK, it is a Lincoln variety !! The pies and cakes were excellent also! :eat: and the 55 double in the board is really not Jim
We voted as we passed your exit Jim, would we coin-knap you or not and keep going west. Snaz saved you. He was too jazzed to get to Long Beach. Me and Mag said lets grab him. Mark was the tie breaker, he has never met you and would not listen to Mag and I. He said lets get to the show.
Thanks for the consideration of coin napping!! If I get all of this month's leases taken care of before the Ontario, I might make it. There is also the " Coinarama 2009" in San Diego July 18,19 which is the large San Diego Show. For some reason, the San Diego shows are stealth shows as they are rarely in Coin World until the last moment. Thanks Rlm for the nice comment. I know you appreciate the nearly unmarked as much as I do! Jim
