I got 20 Eisenhower dollars at our coin club auction earlier in the week. I have been spending them, yesterday I gave the lady who changed my wrist-watch battery five of them, and she hardly blinked, just examining them for a few seconds on the edge for the tell-tale coppery band. I gave a couple to the lady at the post office today saying that the government wants to encourage the use of metal coins that last vs. paper money that doesn't.

Do others here try to use the metal dollar coins vs. our paper currency when convenient? Thanks.:smile

I don't spend them, per se; I give them to kids for presents and whatnot, and encourage them to collect. Boys tend to like Ike, girls Sac. It is not convenient for me to carry excess metal in my pockets. Interesting to note that watch lady looked for silver...
