Why take a coin to a pawn shop where you are 99% guaranteed to get a below-normal price for everything? Why not just go to an auction or sell to a dealer?!?!?

Some people just dont know any better, most others seem to want immediate cash. I am always finding it funny when he tells people that an auction house will take 50% or some other absurd amount. But, its a free market!

But the guy in the episode says he collects coins. Also its a very famous coin which can be found online in about 5 mins. WHY TAKE IT TO A PAWN SHOP!??!!??

I didnt watch the episode. It may be he just wanted his 'five minutes of fame', just to be on TV. Who knows? But also keep in mind this show is scripted and many of the items are either not really for sale or not owned by the actors who are on the show posing as sellers. The show is notorious for this. Its entertaining, but not 'real'.

True. Maybe roman history just appeals to whatever demographic watch the show. I mean there have been a few ancient coins in Rick's shop.

It’s a show, and the show must go on.
If real or staged, it would be possible anyway, bargaining a little, up to 120,000 dollars from Rick. Maybe even a little longer. It would not be far from the value at an auction held in a renowned numismatic house, considering the taxes, expenses, percentages for the auctioneer, etc. And with the blessings of Vagi! Also, we don't know if the coin has a known pedigree, which is really important for those who have budget for such a Eid Mar. If not sold there, good advertising is created for a future sale in a specialized and reputable place. With the blessings of Rick Harrison and David Vagi ...
