I found this coin among my great Uncles military collection from years ago. Could the forum please help to identify it? Thanks much. uploadfromtaptalk1458273402472.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1458273422020.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1458273443962.jpg

Not really a coin, looks to be a fantasy piece. As to when it was made, I don't know.

Probably a souvenir, not a coin.

The item is an Egyptian Magic Coin, a medallion dating from the early 1900's.

They have Egyptian symbols on both sides, one side has a pharaoh and various hieroglyphic symbols, the other side has a sphinx and pyramids.
They usually do not have any text inscriptions.

The first use was as a watch fob sold by the Sears Roebuck mail-order company in 1905.

Later, the medallions with loops were made for wearing as amulets or jewelry.

Some were manufactured without loops and look like coins.

They have appeared for years on Internet coin and metal detecting boards, on Ebay, at coin shows, and even in the movies.

See "The Mysterious Egyptian Magic Coin" on my website for more information on these items.
