Really neat, I didn't know there were any Roman period tets with mummies on them. That would be a cool one to find, must be a rare type.
@Okidoki ... I am not familiar with a MUMMY Coin! That is really nice. Your version is much better with a lot of detail. I have NO coin like this! Nor a mummy to offer. How about a cool Scarab? Egypt SCARAB Middle Kingdom 2065-1650 BCE Scarabaeus Sphinx
Oki, did you buy one of the 2 coins shown in your message ? And did you see this Hadrian in the next Triton auction?
What a fantastic coin! I know a lot of folks who don't collect ancients but are film buffs who would go crazy over a piece like that. Hadrian sure had some amazing reverse types!
I never knew mummies were on any ancient coins! That is super cool. Is it just me, or does the mummy look like he is still alive? His eyes are open, he is standing upright holding a staff; I think it is time to run if you see this guy. Now I need one too.
Hi Andre, yes they are both in my collection, i would only post my own coins if not then i would mention it. Thank you for putting this out, indeed interesting information. reading this i will change the info in my gallery https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=349217
The mummy is depicted after the opening-of-the-mouth by Anubis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opening_of_the_mouth_ceremony
