These make me wonder -- are split-planchet errors known for Zincolns?

I don't know whether the planchet production process would let a zinc blank split and then get plated, or split after plating, and still make it to the Mint.

I don't know whether a partially-split zinc blank could get a copper coating inside the split and still make it through. (I'm pretty sure they're plated AFTER being punched from the stock, otherwise we'd see zinc on the edge and they'd all rot away even more quickly.)

I'd expect zinc stock would be less prone to splitting anyhow, but it shouldn't be impossible.

    Anybody else know?
