Why don't some of the new Washington dollars get fed through the Edge Lettering machine? I mean, I know that it's possible for the machine just not to press hard enough, even though it's unlikely. Dreamer94 has told me it's more of an issue with not being fed into the machine (bringing us back up to the beginning of my question) rather than malfunctions.

At the present time we don't know that they don't. For now it is just conjecture - a guess as to what is happening and why. In time, you can bet there will be articles about it. The mint may explain why or they may not. To be honest, it goes both ways, but, most of the time they don't explain. We'll just have to wait and see.

Roy,a load of bull crap is correct. If the Mint was taking quality control seriously, then why are the Presidential $1 error coins becoming common then? Something just doesn't add up there. It is like 1 + 1 = 3.

As for the prices of the Presidential $1 errors, don't expect them to go through the roof! I can guess that the prices for these coins will end up going through the floor!

    Aidan.
