Hi again everyone! This time it's an earlier coin, a silver penny weighing 1.3 grams with a diameter of 17mm's. It's a bit of an ugly one granted! Again when recovered whilst metal detecting it was completely black! It took days of soaking in a non corrosive solution to shift the layers and finally see the glint of silver. I'm wondering if it might be Edward III, as the other pennies I've found over the years of Edward III have also been 'very' crude. Once again, any help in identifying it will be most appreciated! Thank you.
I believe it to be, Medieval Silver 'Long Cross' Penny - Edward I (1239-1307) Ref. 26JA Edward I (1272-1307) on the obverse The reverse shows the cross and its mint origin: the town of Bury St It is 18mm in diameter and weighs a hefty 1.27 grams
