The BRM wasn't out of touch with what was going on with coinage, look at their contemporaries in France, Italy, Romania. Unfortunately it was a rather short-lived design though. And the British had the advantage of being able to punch their coins out on .925 fine silver instead of .835 like the rest of them.

That is also one of my favorite depictions of Britannia. I wish I had one as nice as yours.
I've got 2, but neither are in great shape. But even when worn down they still look cool I think.

I love Britannia's posture and strength. Small issue: please don't do a closeup of her face! Reminds me a bit of the regular proof Britannia of 2021!

Always been one of my favorites. I got a matte proof 1902 about 12 years ago and am very happy with the coin and the price. It grades PR63, which is about as high as they go since the 1902 sets were sand blasted then wiped.

If I had the means, I would go after a complete set in gem Unc. That would take some time, money and travel to accomplish.

Isn't there a similar image on Swiss coins minus the trident?

That reverse is a gorgeous design! I think I have to find a nice example of that one. Thank you for posting this!

The current (1874-date) Swiss 1/2, 1, and 2 francs have a similar, but less artistically interesting, design.

They absolutely look cool! They are perfectly fine and representative examples, which still show much detail.
TBH I couldn't afford the coin, it was a Christmas gift from my Dad. He knew I had always wanted an example, and he has been a longtime bidder with Davissons. He always liked Scotland, so I focused on English and Irish.

I agree that it is the best depiction of Britannia.
I think there was an article in Coin Monthly some years ago about how the mint master's daughter was the model? I don't remember exactly.

Those are both great! is that KG3 a 1p or 2p?
I have an incredibly worn 1p but would love to add a massive 2p at some point.

    Thanks FF

A tip that I got from someone here : you can recgonize the penny from the two pence with the number of waves under Britannia on the reverse : 2 waves on the penny, three on the tupence

Interesting :) Thanks for the tip.
I don't think you can even make out the waves on my penny haha.
