Take a look at ebay item 260085509948 and see if you notice what I did. It is supposed to be a So Called Dollar. Problem is it say Lincoln's Graditude for those who served during the Great War. The Great War was 1916 to 1919 and Lincoln's war is the Civil War. This item is supposed to be real. Right! and Elvis lives next door to me.:headbang:
Maybe it's from Bert Lincoln DDS, given to fellow dentists for their involvement on the "War on plaque"!
I think you must have misread the auction. It has nothing to do with Abe Lincoln or the Civil War. It's a token from the City/Town of Lincoln (maybe Lincoln, Nebraska) to it's Vets for their service. Give my regards to Elvis.
My mistake. As soon as I saw Lincoln on it I thought of Abe Lincoln. Didn't even dawn on me it could have been an item from a place called Lincoln. Should have had that coffee first this morning before I saw that item. Now where is that sign I'm supposed to wear?
It is probably a so-called dollar, actually a medal, presented to vets, the date is not clear but looks like about 1915. The GAR was very big then.
