There appear to be some good deals to be had on ebay. Does anyone have some advice so I don't get scammed?:desk:
Know what your bidding on is worth. Pay attention to shipping charges. And make sure to check the sellers feedback. Heres a link to check ebay completed listings. I use it alot and find it very helpful as a guidline. http://coins.listings.ebay.com/_W0QQfisZ2QQfromZR10QQsacatZ11116QQsocmdZListingCategoryOverview
What DJP said and then wait a few months, read a lot of posts here. learn a ton and ask more questions. I'm curious as to what you collect and what a good deal is as well. Seriously, If you're looking at an MS66 Morgan dollar and it's slabbed and going cheap I'd bet it's in an SGS holder. I don't know enough of what you're looking at to make a good call so give us some more clues. clembo
Stay away from " unsearched lots" and coins from sellers that all look exactly the same, and sellers that only show one side of the coin, and of course fuzzy pictures. Read feedback ( including the stars for accuracy of description ) , check shipping costs and return policy, avoid any seller with a re-stock fee. Good luck, with patience and knowledge, you can do real well..........
ANYTHING saying ESTATE. STAY CLEAR OF. As well as Sellers that DONT like to mention anything about the coins. STAY AWAY FROM The guys that say " I dont know anything about coins " but have 200 listed and the guys with a WHOLE LOTA junk slabs in there EBAY store or up for auction. At very least check feedback. I only buy from people with 99 to 100 depending on how many point they have.
I only buy "bullion" or junk silver coins on e-bay. For that you can't really lose. I guess my advice is to buy a coin or two here and there and you'll get hooked up with a dealer you can trust.
-Avoid sellers that have NO return policy -Ask the seller questions if you have ANY concerns -Check sellers feedback and feedback score (I never buy from sellers with less than 99%) -Avoid sellers that take pictures of coins from 5 feet away -Know what you're bidding on and learn how to tell if a coin has been cleaned or altered in any way. If you're not sure, post your concern in here along with a link to the auction. Great advice so far from the rest of the guys.
