I listed a coin for sale and while I have it listed in the auction that I ship to U.S. only and I set it up in the listing for no international buyers, the winning bidder is from Romania. First off, why did eBay let this person bid? Second, how can I cancel this? I'd rather offer it to the second bidder who is in the U.S.

My son put an IPAD on EBAY. He stated USA only. But there is no way to limit that - as rlm states. In my son's case, the buyer got the "buy it now" price. My son had to wait ( I think it was 7 days) to relist after the buyer did not respond to his emails. That buyer was new (no feedback) and obviously fake. He called EBAY for help - they could do (and did) nothing. He just had to wait to relist. I see that as a flaw. You can check a box (that EBAY has as a part of listing an item) that states (essentially) USA buyers only - but a buyer registered in another country can bid on and win your item.

And here I naively assumed that by selecting "no international shipping" that would actually mean something. Silly me.

Even though I state "no international shippnig", I constantly receive emails from buyers in Canada, France, Great Britian, Germany, etc., asking if I will ship to them if they win and to let them know in advance what the postage would be. Sometimes the additional shipping costs frightens them off, if not (and they win)... well, they pay and I ship. No big deal.

I would consider international shipping but I just don't know enough about it. I like to keep things as simple as possible and that just throws in an unneeded complication. I usually don't buy international either for similar reasons.

I agree that the international bidders I have gotten always disappeared after i gave them the shipping costs. Of course, I always added the insurance for international shipping. That even scared me, the price was so high. lol

Please keep us posted. I would like to learn from others rather than keep making costly mistakes. lol
