Has anybody ever bought something from this seller before? http://myworld.ebay.com/chuck_furjanic_inc/ They seem to have some really nice stuff but just wanted to hear if anyone has dealt with them before. Thanks ND
Yeh! I am still banned from biding on his auctions. Bid on a 24-D xf with lousy pics and got a F15 coin. When I returned it, I got a nice threat not to leave a negative. I was a newbie at the time. Oh, do I wish I could have a redo. FWIW, my local also knows him. Without really saying so, I got the impression he felt the same.
Chuck is a who's-who in the numismatic world and has a pretty big ego because of it, which results in egotistical grading of the coins he's selling. Plus, some of his coins are doctored and not disclosed. I'd say never bid on his coins at his given grade, knock it down a grade or 2 or 3 or . . . . Ribbit Ps: Look him up in the RedBook. He helped with it somehow? :goofer:
To be completely honest, I have posted that before and there were a couple who said that he was an honest dealer with them. Someday, I will run into him at a show and find out what he is really like. He is from right down the road from me and near my daughter.
Yup he is in there under the Contributors to the sixty-sixth edition section on page 7. It doesn't say what for. ND
He usually has some nice coppers and I used to put them on watch but as I learned more about grading and telling the difference of original or doctored coppers, I realized his were over graded and quite often doctored, which I have nothing against doctoring a coin to make it look better but it should be disclosed and considering who he claims to be, he knows better and that bothers me and since his coppers go way too high, I don't bid on any so there's no need to put them on watch. If they went for a more reasonable price, I'd be interested in many of his coppers but they always go well above ESP (Ebay Standard Price) so I only window shop at his store. Ribbit
I've bought from him before and everything I received was at least one grade lower than advertised. I will never buy from him again. Just because he is consistently dishonest with his grading. So,...No. Don't buy there. Bruce
I agree with Toad and the others. At the same time I will say I treat him just like any other seller. I do not care what they grade the coin - I grade it myself, determine what it is worth - then bid. I have won exactly one coin from him - he has had very few that I like or want.
