that cheek is pretty beat up for a 66 (still though). I have picked up a couple of bargains on Ebay recently (nothing on that price level though)

I saw that cheek. But, I bet you anything that is just the pic. If that coin was as marked up as it appears to be it would not be in a 66 holder IMO. Someone would have sent it back for a buyback guarantee after all these years. That is an early slab.

With a nice finger print on the reverse. And the dime looks nice, but that hairline scratch across the cheek would worry me. That would be one I would want to see in hand.

The dime looks like it's AU to me.

Really? AU? Wouldnt it need some wear on it to be an AU?

But yes, ebay is very hit or miss. Mostly miss thought.

There are still plenty of sellers on Ebay pushing up the price just past Book Value (which as we all know is inflated to begin with)...

However, you are correct, there are MORE bargains to be had on Ebay than lets say a year or two ago. Especially with Morgans... which I just happen to collect.

You still have to know what you are doing, and weed through the guys who hold firm to Book when they price out their auctions. And make sure you pay attention to the quality of the photos, and stay away from anything that looks like it might be a generous grade, chances are that's why you are getting a "bargain".

I just won two BU 2009 kennedy half dollars (P & D) for $2.25 plus $1.00 for shipping. After I won, I also realized that the seller was throwing in 2009 nickels and dimes (P&D). I'm closing in on a full set of 2009 now. You got to love ebay.

No you don't, but I certainly agree it has it's uses and some nice scores. :)Sounds like you gotta a good score. And I have yet to see 2009 nickels or dimes - in pocket change.

The 78-S Morgan is definitely over-graded. It's more like an MS-63. Imo, anyone who trusts any TPG more than his or her own grading skills is a bit foolish. If you don't think your skills are up to snuff, work to get them there.

The Barber dime is also over-graded by the seller. No way in Hades is it a 64. But it's definitely MS, in the 61/62 range.

I see many, many coins in over-graded plastic, from PCGS and NGC as well as lesser TPGs, on EBay. It's a dumping ground for such product from dealers who can't be bothered to resubmit.
