My challenge for you: guess how much value in both silver (based on silver at $16.58) and face value (don't double count silver coins in the clad face value amount). Edit: if you don't want to tally it all up, feel free to simply state what you think the overall value is, or what your max bid would've been.

When I originally saw this auction, I wasn't sure what to make of it because the dates of the Kennedys were not easy to see. I went ahead and gambled on it and when the auction closed, I really started to second guess myself. I won and paid about $100 for this including shipping. I have tallied up the silver and non silver coins but I thought you might have fun taking a stab at how much this lot is worth purely based on silver value and clad face value.

To be honest Brandon I can't see the dates to determine what's what. Other than the given Walkers and silver Washington quarters , I can't see them on my pad in the pages.

From what I can tell, I counted (8) 40% Kennedy's (I guessed at the ones that did not a full date visible, but I could see a 6 in the date and assumed they would be 40%), (6) 90% Halves (these were only ones that were clearly 90%), the rest I was unsure of and assumed to be clad. I made the assumption that all the Ike's were clad and not 40% to err on the side of caution. There were only (2) 90% quarters that I could tell for sure, the rest were counted as clad.

Adding everything up, I counted a total of $34.75 total face value. I then subtracted the silver coins bring my total face value down to $27.25. I calculated the silver value to be $61.60 for a grand total value on the lot of $88.85. I like a bargain, so my max bid would have been $85.00 on this lot.

Paddy, no worries. I couldn't see a lot of these dates either. I was also using my iPhone when I browsed it and bid on it. I truthfully had no idea if I was throwing money down the drain or not.

This is pretty sound and safe thinking. I'll see if anyone else chimes in before I reveal the totals.

Well, seems like that's all the guesses, so here's the breakdown:
    Silver coinage:
    10x 1964 Kennedy Halves
    5x 40% Kennedy Halves
    1x Walking Liberty Half
    2x silver Washington quarters
    7x Ike 40%s (2x are Bicentennial)

    Clad coinage:
    10 Clad Ikes
    4x clad Kennedy Halves
    1 Sacagawea Dollar
    4x SBAs
    7x Clad Quarters
    3x clad dimes
    1x nickel
    1x German President Kennedy Token

    Current silver value: $120.88
    Total Clad face value: $19.10
    Overall Coin value: $139.98

The gamble paid off and after subtracting the $19 from the $100 I spent, I paid about 67% spot for the silver coins. This time I got lucky :)

Thanks, any specific years I should be looking closer at for the silver or clad ones?

Nice pick-up -- I'd tell you to stop hitting my turf, but I hardly ever look at actual auctions these days, I prefer to camp on new BIN listings. :)

I don't think we're in the same ebay country, so your turf should be safe for at least two or three more years ;)

Mostly 1971 and 1972 P and D. This seems to be where most of the errors are found. There aren't nearly as many Ike collectors as there are LMC collectors, so there are still a bunch of errors to be found in the series.

This website will give you some good info on what to look for.
