You do know that your views will fall on deaf ears at eBay, don't you?

Yes I do but that didn't stop me from posting it. :)

Those that read it may not be as deaf and I honestly don't care anymore.
Ebay is still giving us the "Soapbox" so why not use it? First thread I've ever started there by the way.

What can I say Hobo - I'm on a roll;)

A man on a mission. More power to you. I wish you luck.

I don't think eBay really cares what you think. If you got several hundred or a few thousand other sellers or several power sellers doing the same thing they may take notice. Otherwise they don't care.

I think it's great that you bring up these points. some of ebays new policys need to be bought into the light. First they make it hard fore the sellers by raising final value fees, now they make it hard on buyers because you can't tell whats going on in the auction, and shilling will run rampent.
Myself, the higher final vaule fees will slow me down. I used to sell rolls of pres dollars when they came out. I would only make a few bucks each, but if I sold a half dozen I could pay for a roll to keep. Now betwee the insertion fee, higher final value fees and paypal fees, I can't make enough to make it worth my time.
Unlees you can find Items dirt cheap to sell on ebay, it makes less sense everyday trying to resell.

Great post Clembo, on the Ebay forum that is. You will know it is working when Ebay shuts it down. They have a way of doing that, pulling the flame threads that really mean something, and allowing the flame threads that are just whining complainers, lol.

Funny, I did not see anybody at the Ebay booth at the show....Yes, Ebay Inc. had a booth at the ANA show with a big sign " Sell your coins on Ebay", a we'll hook up up a seller account sort of booth.....gee, wonder where they Ebay people were all weekend, maybe they figured out quickly that the coin community has some anomosity towards them, lol.

After another fine fiasco AS A BUYER this week, and ZERO help from Ebay with the issue, I have made the move folks.....the " slow wean" from the bay, but I'll stop there due to the self promotion thingy, and I hope others do the same and will help anybody that asks.

I hear you Viper and Hobo has just pointed out the glaring truth.
I look at it this way though - whether or not ebay pays attention it's better than being silent.
At least make people think over there like we do over here.

As you know, I haven't been selling much on ebay. That trend will continue except infoauctions.

My last one went for a whopping $3. Ebay took 41 cents of that and I'm shipping for free. Don't really care but if I had intended to make a buck it would be different.

What really gets me is that ebay doesn't seem to look at the big picture and loopholes they create. Sure, shilling will go up but as people grow wise reserve fees will go down.

Close one door and open a few others.

Let me clarify my statement...I was NOT calling you a whiner buddy, you know that right?

It seems Ebay has a cpl threads from the same folks on the same topics all the time, they for some reason are allowed to complain, but others wil get the thread yanked if it causes Ebay any grief or poses a serious threat to coin fraud, Ebays core profit center in the C & PM catagory.

Cannot wait to see you next infoauction....

I saw a good one last week from CardsFanPat...."Numismatics 101...buy wheat rolls on Ebay" a great tell all on the shystering tactics used to sell wheat rolls.......

I knew you weren't calling me a whiner Jack a B****** maybe and I have no problem with that;)

It will be no surprise to me if the thread gets yanked. After all I did refer to them as a "greed machine". It's not like a big part of my life depends on ebay these days so I really don't care.
Plus my wife has an account. She can always start selling and we can start shilling.

Geez it's like the government. Full of loopholes.

You sir are a rare breed of seller on ebay.:)

As we all know the increased seller fees are a mute point. It doesn't take long to browse a few auctions and see that the sellers are simply passing this increase onto the buyer through the handling charges. This has always been a standard method to get a few extra $ but now it is downright obvious and many times rediculous.

I agree that the recent changes (feedback) on ebay are not right for sellers but fee increases are going to happen and should be expected.

Hmm, I've already stopped selling on eBay... maybe it's time to stop buying.

On the other hand, "set it and forget it" in terms of bids would still work with the proper amount of discipline. (Sometimes I don't have that though!)

One bid, if I get it, I get it, if I don't, I don't, there will always be another one.

Clembo; please explain and "INFOAUCTION" for me!! I've been sick, I guess!!!

I kind of came up with that term but many of us have begun doing it.

An infoauction is usually a pardoy where the seller is legitimately selling an item but often coming up with outlandish tales about the item listed. We are basically exposing how many people on ebay are scamming bidders.

    Spreading Information hence Infoauction.

Selling on ebay can get expensive, but buying can net some good deals on coins. So many new people sign up to sell all the time, and these are the auctions one should look for.
