eBay - Don't Rely On The Seller's Description

    Here is a perfect example of an eBay auction where the seller seems to have missed a small - but important - detail in describing his coin. I am sure it was merely an oversight.

    1867 SHIELD NICKEL ERROR COIN RARE DETAILS

    I thank the seller for grading the coin and for pointing out the weak and missing letters (likely due to a grease-filled die) but he overlooked an important item - the HUGE HOLE in the coin from a nail.

    Before you bid on a coin on eBay make sure you actually look at the photos. Don't rely on the seller's description alone.

    Thanks. This kind of stuff makes the night at work go quicker.

    Plus the guys asking $80!

    That's right. For $80 you can buy this coin in almost AU - WITHOUT a hole!

    WOW, maybe he just overlooked that little scratch when he was listing it

    I'll at least give the guy credit for putting the pics up.

    Think how many wouldn't have.

    Still quite amusing.

    I don't see the problem.

    At least 69 on SGS, after all, the hole isn't really THAT noticable is it, heheh?

    Sometimes you have to look at more than just the pictures. - 1926-S - Description;
    Yet, this is what the bid box says after my bid;
    BTW, if anyone would like to buy this one for me, you considerations would be greatly appreciated.

    That is going to be one interesting auction. Althought a few dingers, it is the nicest 26-S I have seen in a while, and definatly on the bay ( from what we can see in pics ). I sold a cleaned coin that is a body bagger for sure ( decribed as cleaned and with accurate pics ) on the bay last week to a pro for $345.

    $1000 would not at all suprise me, and $2500 is a possibility. This coin FAR tougher than even the 24-D, and a 24-D ( doggy 64 ) just sold @ triple bid Sunday. TRIPLE.

    All it takes is two folks looking after this one, and believe me, there are more than two folks with a hole in the set for this date.

    $1000 would surprise me - a lot. I would say $1500 minimum and probably close to $2000.

    There are 2 1926-S in mint state in the Heritage Baltimore, but not this nice ( again....web pics ?? ) looking.

    One is an ICG MS-65 RED, now THATS going to be interesting to say the least !!!!

    Hell, you can't even trust a photo, so why would anyone trust a written description?
