1972 D Lincoln Memorial Cent Obverse Struck Thru Error Coin - Error - 1c Maybe this is just me failing a Rorschach test, but this looks to me for all the world like it was struck through a tiny roach, complete with antennae. The scale is wrong, and I know an actual bug wouldn't be, ahem, durable enough to produce a strikethrough like this -- but I can't unsee it now.
If it was a strike though, wouldn't the rim, field and lincoln coat in the area of the strike though be missing ....
Looks like a detached lamination to me. Mismatched die pair; the reverse looks rather heavily ghosted and polished (in an attempt to level the fields?) while the obverse seems pretty new, with the letter tips in IGWT nice and sharp.
