not sure when they started asking for autobids havent bidded on anything in a wile.

    what do you think.

I dont like the ideal it makes it harder to win a coin at a low price because some one else is busy or forgets to bid higher

do you feel that you are entitled to the coin at a cheap price? Or, is it you feel busy and or forgetful people don't deserve to buy coins? Not sure I understand your post.

What's the difference in placing a max bid and auto bid? I thought they did the same thing.

I think they just changed the wording. Bids still work the same way they did before.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the autobid is. The only thing I can think of is that with a simple max bid each increase shows up as only a single bid, whereas with autobid each increase shows up as an individual bid therefor increasing the bid count and making it appear as if there are more bidders and more interest in the item than there might actually be.

eBay uses a proxy bid system which they now call automatic bidding. If you are the first bidder the listing will show one bid. When someone else places a bid and their bid is greater than yours it will show them as high bidder and two bids have been placed. If the other bidder bids less than your maximum bid eBay will automatically place a bid one full bid increment over the other bidder. If your maximum bid is less than one full bid increment then it will place your maximum bid. The listing will then show two bidders and three bids. Every time eBay records a successful bid it is counted it does not matter that your initial bid was placed just one time as long as any other bidder places a bid less than yours your bid will be counted each time until either you get outbid or the listing ends.

It does not make it any harder to win a coin. What makes it hard to win a coin is when you place a bid which is too low to have any chance of winning the coin in the first place.
