These are the Ebay auction pictures:

And this is what they sent me:

Just a little different? So I started the return process, this is one time that I'm glad Ebay is on the buyers side! - been awhile since I got screwed by an Ebay seller.

That is appalling, I hope the return goes smoothly.

I don't suppose there is just the slightest chance that they sent the wrong coin?

But I did notice the eagle had his neck rung and is pointing the opposite from the auction picture!

The top is Diadumenian, the lower Septimius Severus.

Well the problem with that theory is he has the exact same picture and item description on another ongoing auction

I don't understand. Which picture is still showing as an active auction: the coin you bid on or the coin you received? It sounds like it is still possible that the seller sent the wrong coin.

Or, it's holiday season and I'm trying to believe the best about people :D.

Oh hell no - his business (assuming it's a he) is probably built on scamming people - just to wonder how many uninformed Ebay coin buyers are out there?

EBay should always be treated with extreme caution. There are good deals to be had, but there are also tons of criminals waiting to steal your money and commit fraud.

Yeah - don't do that! Top 2 pictures )bid on) are in his newly listed auction

But at least on Ebay you can get your money back pretty easily - and this is the first time in a long time I got ripped off - many good sellers on Ebay! Just weed out the bad ones

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence.

Sending the wrong coin from a large inventory is possible. I've also had a well known seller send the right coin to the wrong address.

I sold a solid silver Victorian button hook and sent it to the wrong buyer (talk about embarrassing) but I didn't have the same button hook on another auction.

Incompetence is a good enough excuse to never buy from this seller - his incompetence is costing me my time having to return this.
