I look at bills now whenever at the ATM or store or whatever. Its not like I know much except to look for unique or cool serial numbers, quality of the bill or try to notice some other kind of massive error. Im sure its like coin hunting where if you look at something long enough, you can start believing you see all kinds of things. Anyway, I got 2 bucks back at Publix yesterday and they caught my attention because they were really crisp and new feeling. They also smelled like new money which was cool. I dont think the serial numbers were anything special, no star, no misalignment etc. What I did notice is some of the serial number was "higher" then the rest. I researched a little and it looks like a very common type error called "gas pump misalignment" maybe? When looking at bills is this error worth noting in any case???
Cool! thanks Steve. Im in wesley chapel btw. I like hunting for coins generally when the snow birds arrive each year....always fun stuff coming out of old drawers and soforth into circulation. With those bills, it was kind of fun getting them in what feels like perfect condition. No folds or anything. I may put them aside for no good reason except that. Thanks for the insight! The 2 in the serial number erks me because that was so close to being interesting.
